About Trimble New Zealand

Trimble is an industrial technology company, concentrated on helping the world work, better. Their technology enables jobs to get done more precisely and accurately so you can build, construct, grow, and move the things they need to live lives and build future communities.

Your role

The internship program seeks candidates with a passion for surveying and a desire to make a global impact. Successful applicants will join a team dedicated to developing Trimble Access Field Software, used by surveyors worldwide. This role offers the opportunity to innovate, contribute, and collaborate with a dynamic team focused on creating cutting-edge solutions for the surveying industry. If you're eager to make a difference, the program invites you to apply and become part of shaping the future of surveying.

In this role, you will be fully immersed in the field software product development team and will progress over the 3 month time period from familiarizing yourself with the Trimble Access product development process, participating in aspects of the product life cycle and working on product development initiatives. Some activities as part of these stages can include:

  • Evaluate performance and provide analysis of new, existing and emerging Surveying technologies to provide input on product vision and development
  • Perform hardware and software testing based on experience in land surveying, photogrammetry, data analysis and GIS principles to ensure customer expectations are satisfied prior to product launch
  • Work directly with their customers and development teams to provide support and understand opportunities for performance improvements and enhancements related to survey/geomatics applications
  • Create, present and document the unique selling points of emerging survey/geomatics technology as highlighted in their software portfolio for customer education
  • Execute key tasks of Go-To-Market plans for software product launches, including social media campaigns, blog posts, video content, and live customer demonstrations

A successful internship will conclude with professional relationships within the Trimble Geospatial marketing and engineering teams, task-based project leadership skills, and in-depth knowledge of Trimble Access, and other Trimble Geospatial hardware and software products.

This internship reports directly to a Survey Field Software Product Manager who oversees Trimble Access and Spectra Geospatial Origin, both surveying software products. The intern will collaborate with a team located across two offices: Christchurch, New Zealand and Westminster, Colorado. While the role is software-focused, the team prioritizes understanding systems and workflow functionality.  This necessitates regular interaction with GNSS, Optical, Scanning, and controller hardware products.

Training & development

The Trimble internship program provides interns with not only valuable hands-on experience but also challenging and meaningful tasks. These tasks offer interns a glimpse into what it's like to be a valued team member in a full-time role. The program is designed to prepare interns for their future careers by fostering professional growth through lunch-and-learn sessions, professional development courses, team-building activities, and social networking events with other interns, both in-person and remote. Throughout the internship, Trimble fosters a sense of belonging and encourages interns to innovate and grow both personally and professionally. By joining Trimble's community, interns have the opportunity to make a global impact and leverage their valued experience and skills to propel their careers forward.
