About Us

Using your skills in accounting and finance, in Workforce, you’ll combine specialist tax and analytical skills with a focus on people matters. Our team works across various areas, including fringe benefits tax (FBT), payroll tax, US tax, and payroll/wage compliance.

You'll be working with clients to ensure they meet their employment obligations while liaising with the ATO, state regulators, and the IRS. By following an end-to-end approach across design, implementation, and ongoing support, you'll help companies reward and incentivise their workforce and manage the tax risks and on-costs associated with paying their employees.

You will work with PwC organisational strategists, HR practitioners, and regulatory, tax, technology, and employment specialists to help our clients improve organisational performance, deliver sustained outcomes, and unleash the potential of their people.

What is the Trainee Program?

As a Trainee, you'll embark on a three-year journey of combined work and study with PwC. You'll join us as a full-time employee while you study part-time for two (2) years. You will take a break from full-time work to complete your degree in the third year!

Balance is important. That's why you'll receive one (1) day of paid study while you work four (4) days a week! This means you’ll receive a full-time salary while you study! As a trainee, you’ll combine your university studies with work experience to build the perfect foundation for your career, all while receiving professional and financial support in a full-time paid role.

About the Opportunity

In the Workforce team, you’ll find yourself in a culture that values well-being and working together. Alongside your peers, you’ll solve problems like incentive creation for workforces or managing tax risks for payroll. You'll use your skills in problem-solving, data analytics, visualisation, and accounting to make an impact across various industries. And along the way, you’ll build relationships and skills to set you up for a lifetime of success.

What will a normal day look like? Well you can count on that every day you will:

Help employers build trust by meeting their Australian and US employment tax and entitlement obligations including Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), Superannuation Guarantee (SG), Pay-As-You-Go Withholding (PAYG W), Payroll Tax (PRT), Workers Compensation (WC) and payroll obligations, including navigating them through an increasingly complex tax and regulatory environment

Assist businesses with finance transformations and automation of employment tax and payroll compliance obligations including the use of data analytics to provide insights for decision-making purposes

Develop and provide technical and strategic advice to employers including large corporate, governments, SMEs and not-for-profits

As a trainee in Workforce Tax, the top three skills you’ll need to hit the ground running are:

  • Studying Commerce, Business, Accounting, Law, or a major in a numerical field
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • An interest in data analytics and visualisation

The anticipated start date is 26 January 2024.

Your New Benefits

  • Flexible daily working hours for a work-life balance that suits you
  • Work overseas or interstate for that precious time with your family and friends
  • Paid study (and leave!), we’ll pay all the costs and give you time off to study
  • No dress code so you can feel comfortable and dress for your day
  • Yearly bonuses to reward great performance!
  • Health & fitness perks like a wellness stipend and discounted memberships
  • More family time with 26 weeks paid parental leave policy for mums, dads, and foster carers

I get to learn new things every day, which means my job is never boring. It’s also a very hands-on role, where I get to work directly with clients, grow my skills and see the impact of what I do.
