Change peopleโ€™s lives and love what you do! Cochlear is a world-leading, cutting-edge, medical device company that develop products that gift hearing to the world.

An ASX top 50 company, Cochlear offers an unmatched, global platform to launch your career. As an advanced Medical Device manufacturer and a market leader in implantable hearing devices, more people choose a Cochlear branded implant than any other. While our operations are across the world, our global headquarters are right here in Sydney. This means that you will have access to, and work with significant stakeholders internationally.

Our Summer Student program operates from November each year for a total of 60 working days and empowers you to focus on your passions - from designing hardware products, developing and improving manufacturing processes, implementing test systems, or designing and testing firmware or software. The work at Cochlear is technically challenging and incredibly rewarding.

As a Summer Student in our Global Supply Chain stream, you will be using your technical skills and abilities to solve unique challenges across our supply chain and manufacturing processes. Your projects will meaningfully contribute to Cochlearโ€™s product development and manufacturing and provide you with an unparalleled experience at the forefront of our innovation. You will have the opportunity to work alongside and collaborate with the best and brightest minds in Australia and across the world as they mentor and support you to develop your skills and follow your passions.

Every year our Summer Students work on a variety of essential projects that add real value to our core mission. Some examples are below:

  • Developing processes within Cochlear and suppliers of manufactured components
  • Designing, developing, and verifying new products or components
  • Contributing to product improvement projects
  • Building and managing prototypes
  • Developing voice-controlled sound processor capabilities
  • Testing, analysing and reporting on data and results
  • Evaluating and testing technologies critical to delivering a next-generation sound processor

At the conclusion of the Summer Student program, you will be eligible for exclusive graduate positions starting in February 2024 at Cochlear. Your performance during the Summer Student Program will contribute toward your suitability for a graduate role.
