Your role

They are looking for an intern who will have the chance to participate in projects in an industrial environment with their electricity, instrumentation and control team in Quebec. 

What you can expect to do here:

During your internship, you will have to work with team members to complete projects and you may be called upon to:

  • Visit factories and sites where projects will take place to inventory and evaluate existing equipment.
  • Meet with customers to define their needs, identify the problems they encounter, and present the chosen solution to them.
  • Participate in the design of the solution by proposing concepts.
  • Select the components required for the solutions.
  • Carry out calculations and verifications using design software (if necessary) and by consulting applicable standards.
  • Participate in the preparation of plans and specifications including the general layout of equipment, single-line diagrams, connection diagrams, and cable lists.
  • Participate in carrying out pre-feasibility studies.
  • Prepare pre-operational verification plans which will validate that the solution was designed according to the plans and specifications and that it works.
  • Participate in resolving problems encountered during the project.
  • Discover the basics of project management.

Training & development

During your internship, you will have the opportunity to discover and familiarize yourself with electrical equipment such as overhead cranes, motors, control panels, and motor control centres. You will also have the opportunity to discover various probes and instrumentation used to measure different process parameters (temperature, pressure, flow rate, etc.) and then carry out control

What you’ll bring to WSP:

To integrate you well into the team and be able to make the most of your internship, they would like you to:

  • You are a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering student.
  • You are familiar with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • You have a valid driver's license allowing you to go to factories/sites when required.
  • You are autonomous, curious with good attention to detail, who likes to learn and who works well in a team.
