Your role

Job description:

WSP is currently looking to fill the position of intern in Road Engineering - Design and/or Monitoring for their Transportation department located in the Quebec, Lévis or Saint-Georges offices. Reporting to the deputy director, the incumbent will participate in the preparation of studies, preliminary projects or road engineering plans and specifications. In addition, the incumbent may also be called upon to monitor the work to ensure that the work is carried out in compliance with the plans and specifications and the various standards applicable to road engineering. 

What you can expect to do here:

Responsibilities Design

  • Participate in calculations, design of plans, specifications and details of transportation projects;
  • Participate in the preparation of pre-project reports;
  • Participate in the preparation of technical quotes;
  • Participate in the preparation of the work cost estimate and prepare submission and estimate forms;
  • Provide technical design support during the completion of the work;
  • Assist the project manager as needed;
  • Perform any other related tasks that may help in the completion of the project.

Responsibilities Monitoring

  • Control the quality and quantities of materials, write daily reports;
  • Measure the works executed about the plans and specifications, compile the quantities and prepare the documents required for payment requests;
  • Prepare and issue site directives;
  • Write site memos and notices intended for contractors to enforce contractual clauses;
  • Attend site meetings;
  • Perform any other related tasks that may help in the completion of the project.

Training & development

Throughout the internship, interns will develop expertise in transportation project design, including calculations, technical quotes, and cost estimates, while gaining experience in project documentation and managerial support. During the internship, you will also enhance your skills in quality control, material measurement, and site communication, ensuring adherence to contractual standards and effective project execution.

About you

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • 2nd, 3rd or 4th year student of the bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • Sense of initiative and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent communication, both oral and written.
  • A DEC in civil engineering or geomatics is considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.
