Your role

Job description:

Their team in the Bâtiment Québec division in  Laval, which brings together the structural, mechanical-electrical and energy efficiency departments, supports their clients, as well as the other divisions of WSP Canada. Over the decades, they have developed a wide range of services in all areas of consulting engineering. Their Quebec, Canadian and international experts work together to offer their clients services that meet their vision of meeting the highest industry standards and innovating to exceed them. 

What you can expect to do here:

  • Participate in the detailed production of plans, specifications and details based on guidelines as part of building structure projects.
  • Carry out simple design calculations for steel, reinforced concrete and wood structures by the requirements of codes and other regulations.
  • Produce quantity statements and prepare budget estimates.
  • Write technical reports and opinions.
  • Collaborate with the technicians and designers assigned to the project.
  • Assist the project manager and/or lead designer,  as needed.
  • Carry out field surveys and partial site supervision.
  • Perform any other related tasks that may help in the completion of the project.

Training & development

During the internship, gain hands-on experience in producing detailed plans and specifications for building structure projects, while developing skills in design calculations, budget estimation, technical report writing, and collaboration with project teams.

About you

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering ideally in building structure or the equivalent (minimum 2 years completed).
  • Hold a valid permit from the Order of Engineers of Quebec.
  • Hold an ASP certification (Health and safety course on construction sites).
  • Knowledge of ADA, ETABS, SAFE, BIM360, etc. software.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously with different work teams.
  • Superior communication, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Sense of initiative, and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work in a team.
  • Autonomy.
  • Rigor.
