Your Role

Business Overview:

As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. They manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk.

In this role, you will:

  • Participate in formal internship program and workshops within Internship Program
  • Review various assignments to become familiar with policies and procedures related to tasks and deliverable
  • Receive directions from a manager and exercise independent judgment while developing understanding of the line of business including compliance and risk management requirements for the supported area
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

Responsibilities may include:

  • Participate in provide consulting, and support for projects and initiatives with moderate risk
  • Effectively work with internal stakeholders, lines of business, enterprise risk groups and risk partners
  • Execution on strategic priorities and reporting
  • Manipulating and analyzing large complex datasets with a programming language such as SAS, SQL, and/or Python
  • Work in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment
  • Proactively identify and resolve compliance matters
  • Identifying risks and/or gaps through trending analysis and report results to stakeholders
  • Build and sustain relationships with peers, Executive Office and business partners
  • Provide strategic support to risk and control teams in coordination and execution of initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate effectively in both a face-to-face and virtual environment

About You

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ months of work experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • Wells Fargo will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Wells Fargo now or in the future to retain their authorization to work in the United States.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree candidate with an expected graduation in December 2025 – May/June 2026 in the fields of one or more of the following: IT, STEM, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Accounting and/or Analytics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Strong analytic and/or process skills including manipulating data using SAS, SQL, and/or Python
  • Knowledge and/or experience in compliance, operational risk, and/or experience in the financial services industry
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to take on a prominent level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability

Training & Development

The Corporate Risk Development Summer Program is a professional development program that provides you with a ten-week overview of Wells Fargo and a high-level understanding of the company's operations, business strategies, and corporate culture. The internship experience includes relationship building, relevant work assignments, coaching, performance feedback sessions, group projects, and informative learning sessions with key leaders. It is designed to provide undergraduate students with a blend of business and professional developmental training opportunities that incorporates real-world experiences and prepares you for a career at Wells Fargo.

Career Progression

This internship program is a pipeline program where successful interns will receive an offer to return the following year for the full-time 2-year rotational Corporate Risk Development Program (Undergraduate). It also serves as a primary resource channel for their full-time entry level roles. Therefore, if you excel in your internship and there is a vacant position, you may get offered a full-time position at the company upon graduation. All interns must be able to present current, permanent work authorization to be eligible for the program.
