Your role

What you will do:

This internship will support the Manager, Pricing & Risk Management in pricing activities, business intelligence and risk management of the Service Contract portfolio. The Intern - Pricing Analyst is expected to be analytical with a good business sense. This position will collaborate with Management Reporting and Business Intelligence, Business Control, Aftermarket, and the Commercial Truck Organizations. The internship allows students to integrate knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and Volvo Group. For this position it is preferable for candidates to be on site for at least 3 days per week working up to 30 hours a week. The fall internship dates are August 19, 2024 to December 13th.

Core responsibilities:

  • Analyze historical data and identify trends to help set technical price for Service Contracts and Extended Coverages. 
  • Develop and prepare standardized reports and ad-hoc analysis to support portfolio and sales teams.    
  • Work with Pricing Manager and IT teams to integrate new data sources into Power BI for Service Contracts. 
  • Work with Pricing Manager and IT teams to automate Service Contract portfolio reporting in Power BI. 
  • Maintain and enhance existing price models and assist with updating pricing, discount structures and business rules in source systems and ordering tools. 
  • Support custom quotation process through pricing analysis and timely response.  
  • Aid in creating a proactive working environment, identifying quality issues and cost drivers early in the contract term.  Work with aftermarket and support teams to make necessary changes to increase profitability of portfolio.

The compensation for the role will range from $16.00 to $46.00 per hour.

About you

Critical competencies:

  • Analytical: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work with large and multiple datasets. Experience with Power BI preferred. Knowledge of Python or similar is a plus.
  • Business Aptitude: The ability to take analytical findings and apply it to the business.  Understanding business needs when developing reports and analytical tools. 
  • Detail Oriented: The capability to pay close attention to detail. To ensure data is accurate compared to source systems and no errors when distributed.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, or related field with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the internship.
  • Strong analytical skills, advanced excel, Power BI experience preferred.  
  • Requires the mastery of standard Microsoft applications and data analysis tools. 
  • The ability to understand high level and low-level business, technical concepts a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
