Volvo Group Trucks Operations is the truck industrial entity within the Volvo Group responsible for truck manufacturing, including Cab & Vehicle Assembly, Powertrain Production, Logistics Services, Part Distribution, and Remanufacturing. Hagerstown group function is Powertrain Production.
At Hagerstown, they are the heart, and they keep the heart beating. They develop and produce heavy-duty diesel engines, transmission, axles, and electric driveline components for the Volvo Group brands.
They are currently looking for a student to work within their Logistics team as a Logistics Engineering Intern.
What you will be doing:
The student should be prepared to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment, gaining experience and knowledge in various aspects of supply chain and engineering.
As a valued member of the Logistics team within Volvo Group, the student will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally focusing on supply chain, material handling, material storage, lean manufacturing, and data analytics.
Volvo Group’s goal is to contribute to the student’s development, as well as provide an opportunity for the student to work in a business environment within the manufacturing industry.
This position will report to the Logistics Engineering Team Leader.
Position Responsibilities:
Analyze existing logistics and supply chain processes to identify inefficiencies to recommend and lead improvements.
Gather and interpret data pertaining to supply chain processes and costs and use statistical methods and software tools to analyze logistics data and provide actionable insights.
Assist in the design and implementation of logistics projects focused on cost deployment and focused improvement – two key pillars in the Volvo Performance System (VPS).
Contribute to material layout and delivery route proposals by utilizing the “Go and See” approach on the shop floor and interacting with Material Handlers
Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for logistics processes and document workflows and process maps to assist in training and process improvement.

Co-Op Education and Program Requirements:
Applicant must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the internship.
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75
Strong communication skills.
Valid US Work authorization.
Co-ops are not enrolled in academic courses during their co-op rotation and may work up to 40 hours per week.
