Your role

Volvo is currently looking for students to work with their production teams as Business or Marketing co-ops. Candidates should be prepared to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment, gaining experience and knowledge in various aspects of communication, marketing, and/or business. As valued members of the team within GTO, they will have the opportunity to work directly on production, focusing on increasing efficiency and quality while utilizing their education and continuous improvement mindset. GTO’s goal is to contribute to their development while providing an opportunity to work in a business environment within the manufacturing industry.

What you will do

At Volvo Group Trucks Operations (GTO), interns will contribute to the transformation of the company, the transport industry, and society at large. Volvo Group Trucks Operations (GTO) is the truck industrial entity within the Volvo Group responsible for truck manufacturing, including cab and vehicle assembly, powertrain production, logistics services, parts distribution, and remanufacturing. Hagerstown’s group function is powertrain production, which is one of the world's largest manufacturers of heavy-duty diesel engines for commercial vehicles. Powertrain production provides diesel engines and transmission systems to the Volvo Group business areas.

In this role, you will: 

• Drive lean methodology
• Focus on data analysis on standards and repeatability
• Write some articles with Focus Improvement team and communication team
• Participate in project planning, implementation and improvements
• Work with Focus Improvement Owner to promote the Culture of Continuous Improvement
• Assist the organization (assembly lines, logistic areas, quality area and Machining area) with kaizens methodology
• Drive the VPS SharePoint to organize training and documents
• Assist in follow-up, reports and flow charts
• Participate in functional meetings
• Good attitude & continuous improvement mindset are critical to performing daily activities in this engineering role

Education and Program Requirements

• Applicant must be currently enrolled and pursuing a Data Science and Analytics Degree
• An accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies before starting the co-op 
• Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75
• Strong communication skills
• Valid US Work authorization
• During the program, not enrolled in courses and work 40/hours per week

The salary range for this role is $16.00 - $46.00 per hour.
