Your role

The Team:

  • Service Market Logistics (SML), part of Volvo Group Trucks Operations, serves all brands and business areas by managing and optimizing service parts availability and distribution to secure customer uptime.

  • SML North America (NA) is a part of SML and has about 1,000 employees across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
  • They operate the Central Distribution Center in Byhalia, MS as well as Regional Distribution Centers across the NA region.

What you will do:

  • The Customs Trade Export Control Intern position will be responsible for working with the Customs Trade Export Control North America team, to support daily operations and projects, while learning about international trade and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist Customs Trade Export Control, and Master Data Classification with any necessary projects and day-to-day operational activities.
  • Assist Customs Trade Export Control, Master Data Country of Origin with relevant projects, research, and day-to-day activities

About you

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must be currently enrolled and pursuing a business administration degree at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the internship. 
  • Spring Interns may work up to 30 hours per week and must be enrolled as full-time students.
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.

The hourly range is set at $16.00 - $46.00.

Training & development

During the internship, interns will gain hands-on experience in international trade and regulatory compliance by supporting the Customs Trade Export Control team with daily operations and projects. Interns will also complete scheduled training on basic importing, exporting, and compliance topics, enhancing their knowledge and practical skills in these areas.
