As a 'Your Future' Peer Support Assistant your main duties will include:
Proactively promoting the Careers Service to students as a brand ambassador, using your initiative to plan creative ways to engage students with services.
Providing initial signposting to career information and services. This might include demonstrating resources to students, graduates, and researchers of all disciplines, responding to queries in-person or electronically, researching information, and referring queries to Careers Service staff as necessary.
Offering basic advice on key employability topics, including CVs, opportunity searching, and LinkedIn (full training will be provided), before referring students and graduates to additional support.
Raising awareness of how to make effective use of the Careers Service among Leeds students by contributing to promotional activities and resources, including blog posts, videos, and social media.
Contributing student perspectives to all aspects of work and engagement activities.
Supporting Careers Centre projects, including the Interview Wardrobe which provides students with access to free, professional clothing.
Engaging with ongoing training and development opportunities.
Supporting the evaluation and continuous quality improvement of frontline services, making recommendations in discussion with line manager(s).
Assisting with the delivery of careers events, e.g. Careers Fairs.
Actively liaising with your faculty and Leeds University Union (LUU) societies to seek new ways to engage with students that encourage them to be inspired, and ambitious and to take ownership of their future.

About you
As a 'Your Future' Peer Support Assistant you will need:
To be a University of Leeds student in 2024/25, working towards an undergraduate or postgraduate degree (taught or research) in any year of study.
A genuine interest and enthusiasm for helping University of Leeds students to make use of the resources and opportunities available to develop their employability skills.
Able to demonstrate a strong customer service ethos and professionalism.
To be proactive and curious, with a can-do attitude.
Excellent verbal, written, and digital communication skills, with the ability to confidently deal with queries and to demonstrate resources clearly and articulately.
The ability to work as a member of a diverse team and unsupervised.
To have a positive, inclusive, and non-judgemental approach with the ability to relate to and engage with a diverse range of students from all backgrounds and at all levels of study.
The ability to work in line with the University’s confidentiality, data protection, and GDPR policies.
Good IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and the ability to use and contribute to digital tools and resources.
