The United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is responsible for coordinating humanitarian actors to ensure a cohesive response during emergencies, advocating for the rights of those in need, and promoting preparedness and sustainable solutions. OCHA's Evaluation and Oversight Section (EOS) in New York manages evaluations of OCHA's humanitarian efforts and monitors the implementation of recommendations.
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Students who have completed the academic year before the final year of a first university degree but have not yet commenced the final year are also eligible, provided they can show proof of continued enrolment.
The university degree must be in the area of political science, social science, international studies, public administration, economics, engineering, earth sciences, or a related field. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advanced coursework, or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is desirable.
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
This internship is unpaid in person and full-time.
