Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, IFRC has three divisions and five regional offices, including APRO, which supports 38 countries and assists the National Society of Malaysia directly.
The WASH IM intern, under the supervision of the Senior Officer, Emergency WASH, is an integral part of the Asia Pacific Regional Office (APRO) Health, Disaster, Climate and Crisis (HDCC) team. He/She will collaborate closely with National Society and IFRC WASH and Health focal points in the Asia Pacific region, primarily focusing on data collection and analysis, and the development of IM products in response to user requests and assist in the management and updates of the created IM products.
The internship position will support the development of IM products for operations and other regional activities that will be carried out to ensure strong consolidation of information and resources for the region in line with regional priorities. Specific job duties are as outlined below.

This internship provides an avenue for soon-to-be graduates or recent graduates to gain experience in an international humanitarian organization. It is an opportunity to be directly involved and know the Federation’s Response System at the international/regional level, as well as an opportunity to acquire professional skills in the management of Rapid Response Personnel. While it doesn't guarantee employment, it can lead to opportunities in General Service or consultancy positions. Candidates aiming for higher-level roles should wait six months post-internship, ensuring they meet the educational and work experience criteria for those positions.
The United Nations values interns' balanced lifestyle, allowing for personal and social activities. This will be six months hybrid internship program, based at the IFRC Asia Pacific Regional Office in Kuala Lumpur. The number of days working from the IFRC office in Kuala Lumpur and remote home-based work will be determined as per the work plan and mutually agreed upon between the immediate supervisor and the intern.
