Background & purpose of the job

The purpose of the Internship Program is to introduce students to Unilever through a challenging and rewarding experience, which offers them the opportunity to contribute to business goals. As an intern, you are assigned key tasks that are an integral part of their monthly rhythm and are exposed to various projects helping to deliver process efficiencies. The Canada Finance team hires 3 positions: Finance Excellence Team (FET) S&OP, Customer Development (CD) Finance, and Treasury Corporate Services and Special Packs & Displayers.

What you will do

Customer Development (CD) Finance Business Partnering

  • Support the monthly P&L Ecomm trade rate process.
  • Prepare and maintain customer P&L files with analysis.
  • Consolidate and perform monthly analysis on customer trade spend.
  • Perform monthly master analysis and checks to ensure accuracy.
  • Liaison with various account teams to understand the invalid status and provide commentary/insights to the team.
  • Analyze monthly payments due and communicate updates to Key Account Managers (KAMs) for specific customers. Accounts.
  • Complete Stats Canada reports.
  • Assist with required SAP Business Intelligence (BI) data pulls for different Customer P&Ls.

Finance Excellence Team S&OP

  • Support the monthly business rhythm (S&OP), month-end processes, and Global forecasting submissions for all Business Units.
  • Assist in Forecast and S&OP P&L consolidation and variance analysis.
  • Own Market Share projection reports and work with stakeholders.
  • Assist in improving current tools and processes for Management Reports and P&L analysis.
  • Ad hoc support to the team to create efficiencies through technology or process revamps.
  • Liaison with cross-functional teams to support their Monthly Performance and KPI tracker.

Treasury Corporate Services and Special Packs & Displayers 

  • This is a hybrid role of both treasury and SP&D (special packs and displayed).
  • Front-line support on the Canada Treasury and day-to-day banking operations. 
  • Business partnering and decision support to Canada Benefits on pension, retirement, health care, and other benefits accounting and reporting and month-end close processes. 
  • Remit payments on time for employee pension contributions, employer calculations & contributions, and Pension cross charge to Northern Trust. 
  • Support on Benefits and Pension annual budget. 
  • Support on Treasury, Benefits, and pension account reconciliation. 
  • Assist Finance Excellence Team with special pack & displayer financial evaluations, while business partnering with In-store Visibility teams for key inputs. 

About you

What you’ll need to succeed

  • The successful candidate should be working towards completion of a Business Administration degree with a specialization in finance/accounting and an interest in pursuing a career in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.
  • They seek individuals who are dedicated, mature, outgoing, and thrive in a team environment.  
  • Superior proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is required; along with an overall level of expertise in PC/MS Office environments.
  • The successful candidates will be results-oriented with demonstrated initiative and drive.
  • They will possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills with a sound knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Prior relevant work experience with a CPG company and working knowledge of SAP is considered an asset.
