This is a fantastic opportunity for you to secure a position in your chosen field, get ahead of current market, and work with the latest technology and equipment.

As a Software Engineer in the Army you will take responsibility for the design, construction and testing of the large-scale software systems that support helicopters such as the Black Hawk, Chinook and Taipan, employing state of the art concepts, cutting edge methodology and tools in specification, design, construction, testing and documentation of large software systems.

You will also be responsible for the full range of engineering specific and staff duties. In addition to this, you will be able to gain hands on experience with the aircraft, and you will play an important role in managing the maintenance team and ensuring helicopter airworthiness and availability is maintained. Throughout your career you will receive helicopter specific training to enhance your understanding of mechanical, electrical, avionics and armament systems on the aircraft.

BENEFITS:

A career in the Australian Army will enable you to take advantage of some great benefits such as excellent training and development, outstanding salary packages, job stability and job satisfaction. In addition to this you will work in an environment that values teamwork and strong leadership skills, all whilst working with the latest technology.

LOCATION:

  • Initial training  will take place in Canberra, Victoria, and Queensland
  • Once you have completed your training you will be posted to any one of the many Army bases across Australia

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • You will be appointed for an Initial Minimum Period of Service (IMPS) of three years. Subsequent periods of service may be offered subject to the requirements of the ADF and your suitability for further service.

SALARY:

  • Once you have completed your training, your starting package is approx. $82,000 p.a. plus superannuation

SECURITY REQUIREMENT:

The Department of Defence requires all ADF entrants to obtain a security clearance appropriate to their avenue of entry.

A process of background checks, collection of relevant information and, as required, interviews enables the Regional Security Office to make an informed assessment of an applicant’s suitability for a security clearance.

Current policy requires applicants for this particular avenue of entry to have lived in Australia for the preceding 10 years, or have a checkable background for this period. Waivers may be considered.

MEDICAL AND FITNESS REQUIREMENTS:

To be enlisted or appointed, you must be medically and physically fit for entry to your chosen occupation. This is partially assessed from the completion of an extensive questionnaire covering your medical history, followed by a physical examination.

Tests and/or assessments for joining the Defence Force and for particular jobs may be a requirement during the application process.
