Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Water Resources Engineering Intern based in the Burnaby, British Columbia office.

The job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • A willingness to be versatile and a team player in contributing towards a variety of water resources projects.
  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Developing solutions and assessments using hydraulic modeling techniques.
  • Collect and analyze data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Prepare engineering-related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
  • Develop solutions for routine technical problems with limited scope.
  • Provision of contract administration services.
  • Work under the supervision of a project engineer or senior-level team member.
  • Technical report writing.

Salary & benefits

The expected range is $19.00/hour - $27.00/Hour.

About you

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering, or other related fields with the intent to continue after the internship unless graduating.
  • Must have completed 2 years of study.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstration of high-quality English report writing skills.
  • Proficient in using spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software.
  • Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, AutoCAD, BioWin, GIS, and Hydrologic/Hydraulic models).
  • Experience with project management concepts and principles.
