20/20 serves as the premier news magazine program during prime time! The show delivers impactful investigative reports, interviews with prominent newsmakers, and engaging feature stories. In 2019, the program embarked on a new path, transitioning to two-hour documentary programming that includes fresh interviews with significant figures involved in major newsmaker stories from recent American history!
What you will do:
Support the production team in various aspects. This could include tasks like booking interviews, helping during breaking news situations and assisting in logging and transcribing media content.
Participate in the preparation and execution of shoots. This might involve setting up equipment, coordinating logistics, and assisting the team during filming. Additionally, you may provide support during the editing process.
Ordering tapes and scanning photos, giving to the compilation of essential media assets for the program.
You'll engage in story development and research tasks, helping to collect information, identify potential angles, and support the team in shaping impactful narratives.
Learn & use internal ABC technical media search and management systems
Your responsibilities will include: handling mail, distributing digital media, and providing additional support functions as needed.
About you
Required qualifications & skills:
Familiarity with past 20/20 content
Shown interest (academic and/or previous internship) in long-form journalism.
Ability to think creatively, collaborate yet also operate independently, and be a self-starter.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred qualifications:
Shown leadership roles in school or extra-curricular activities
Previous internship experience with a television news outlet
Basic proficiency (academic or previous internship) with non-linear editing software (Avid specifically)
Education:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) before participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at the time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
Undergraduate students in their Junior or Senior year preferred
Major or previous coursework in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Film/Television or a related field
Eligibility requirements & program information:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program.
Must be able to work on-site in New York City and have reliable transportation to/from work
Candidate must be available to work 40 hours/week in Eastern Standard Time for the duration of the internship- could be nights, weekends, and possibly overnights
