Your role

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.

Interns will join one of four business areas at ABB: electrification, motion, robotics, or process automation. Each internship focuses on impactful work to build skills, gain business knowledge, and contribute to their teams. 

Potential roles include:

  • Preventative Maintenance Analytics: Analyze machine downtime and repair schedules to support the development of effective preventative maintenance programs.
  • Process Management: Manage end-to-end processes from customer service quotations to site installations, ensuring smooth operation.
  • Quality Assurance: Contribute to ensuring quality production across multiple lines such as plating, powder coating, and e-coating.
  • Efficiency Improvement: Enhance efficiencies by working on new equipment setups and assembly process improvements.
  • Waste Reduction: Identify and implement strategies to reduce assembly waste and boost product throughput.
  • Automation Implementation: Work on integrating automated processes using advanced technology to streamline operations.
  • Additive Manufacturing: Develop expertise in additive manufacturing (3D printing) and contribute to related projects.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Collaborating with various teams to support ABB’s operations, ensuring effective coordination and successful project completion within the defined timelines.
  • Utilizing an understanding of customers' needs and ABB’s solutions to determine effective solutions for customers, ensuring successful project outcomes aligned with customer requirements.
  • Participating in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and other collaborative efforts.
  • Seeking feedback and guidance from manager and team members to improve performance and skills.

About you

Qualifications for the role

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s engineering degree program, in the United States, and graduating between Dec 2025 and June 2027.
  • Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions
  • Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality
  • Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this role is $20 - $34 per hour. The hourly rate is determined by factors such as the successful applicant’s qualifications, graduation year, and experience.
